Game Informer's cover revealed for the world exclusive GTA V preview which will be out in just a few more hours. The cover shows THREE main characters, all of which have been seen in various artwork and screenshots so far.
" The long wait is over at last. With the December issue, Grand Theft Auto V fans can pore over every detail we could get about Rockstar Games' highly anticipated sequel. Over the course of 18 pages (our biggest cover story yet!), we introduce the three main protagonists, discuss the groundbreaking way you use them, and explore the reimagined Los Santos – the biggest open world Rockstar has created to date. The massive feature also divulges and dissects many more aspects of the game fans won't want to miss."
We already showed you what Game Informer's Grand Theft Auto 5 cover looks like, we also know that there will be three protagonists in the game. Well, the digital issue of Game Informer's December is now out and that means prepare for Grand Theft Auto 5 info overload.
While knowing the game will have three protagonists are big news in itself, according to Rockstar, Los Santos will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto 4 combined. There's going to be a military base, wilderness and even an ocean floor to explore underwater (!).
The three protagonists are named Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Here's a brief overview on each: Michael is a retired bank robber who gets suckered in to do another score, Trevor is a drug addict that's also a life-long criminal and Frankilin is a young, 20-something street hustler. In addition to the details, players will be able to switch between three characters at nearly any given time.
Here's the rest of the details out so far ):
-
Sometimes they'll work together on missions, during which you can
switch back and forth from character to character depending on which
part of a given mission you feel like doing.
-
Each character has his own personality, skill set, and group of
friends to interact with. And the ones you're not controlling will go
off and do their own thing.
-
This is the same world as Grand Theft Auto IV and Liberty City, so
you might see some recurring characters from those games (just not the
major ones, like Niko Bellic). But. Rockstar says this is the
"high-definition" world of Grand Theft Auto, so don't expect to see
anyone from the PS2-era titles.
-
Remember those randomized dynamic missions in Red Dead Redemption?
They're back for GTAV: expect hitchhikers, muggers, and dead bodies,
among others.
-
Yes friendships. No romance.
-
Rockstar says there will be an economy, but you won't be able to buy properties. There will be "loads of other stuff."
-
More fleshed out missions ala "Three Leaf Clover".
-
More complex side missions and activities similar to Red Dead. "It's
better to have one really good mini game than five half-assed ones that
aren't fun".
-
Better driving controls
-
Improved shooting mechanics
-
Refined melee combat
-
Vibrant in-game economy (but no buying property)
Not only is this the most ambitious Grand Theft Auto game in history, but it just might be one of the best games this generation if Rockstar can pull this off, no?
Grand Theft Auto 5 is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
