Xbox One's launch date in North America seems to have been inadvertantly announced by Amazon

You wait all week for the release date announcement for next-generation consoles and then two arrive at once, it seems. A mere five hours after it was reported that a German retailer had outed the release date of the PS4, Amazon seems to have inadvertantly confirmed the Xbox One's release date.

According to Amazon, the Xbox One will be released in North America on November 27th. This is the date that is posted on both the console's pre-order page on Amazon.com, and that of some of the Xbox One video games.

Microsoft has yet to confirm the console's release date, but if the information proves accurate, the Xbox One will arrive roughly two weeks after the PS4 goes on sale. However, there's no ikling yet of when the Xbox One will hit retail shelves in the UK - Amazon.co.uk has no release information posted on the console's pre-order page.

It remains to be seen if the PS4's earlier release and cheaper retail price will significantly dent the sales of the Xbox One. Currently Microsoft's next-generation console is enjoying something of a resurgance in its pre-order numbers.

Helped in no small part by Microsoft's reversal on the Xbox One's DRM requirements and its policy on sharing games, the console has returned to the top of Amazon's pre-order chart.
